Love in Our Pasture

Travis called me outside today to come see the Kildee/Kildeer nest in our pasture. These birds don't keep nests in trees, but rather on the ground. So, I went outside to see it. As we walked closer to the nest, the daddy stood up and started running away from the nest. He does this to try to get you to follow him away from the nest. When that doesn't work, he lays in the grass, flapps his wings and squawks like an injured bird would. In other words, he wants to make you think that he's hurt, so that you (the predator) will go after him and leave his babies alone.

I just think it's so precious that God has little pictures of love, like this, throughout His creation. If this bird--dumb enough to lay eggs where a tractor could easily crush them--loves his children so much to risk his own life, how much more will your Heavenly Father secure your safety? I can't help but be reminded of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us...to secure our Eternal safety. Our God is so Good, isn't He? Lord, thank You for protecting me and keeping me under Your wings. Jesus, thank You for giving Your life so that I now have eternal life. You are my everything.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
